Claudia Welss is Executive Chair of the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), founded in 1973 by Apollo 14 Lunar Module Pilot and 6th man to walk on the Moon Capt. Edgar Mitchell following his experience of the Overview Effect. An invitation to the 100 Year Starship Study launch at NASA Ames in 2011 deepened her commitment to preparing human consciousness for a successful spacefaring future.  She is co-Vice Chair of Space for Humanity and Lead Citizen Scientist of the Global Consciousness Project 2.0, successor to the 1998 Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research lab (PEAR) project. With Pixar cofounder Loren Carpenter, she executive-produced IONS' Edgar Mitchell Overview Effect VR Experience (EMVRX), Best in Category at the 2020 Raw Science Film Festival, and is co-investigator with UC San Diego's Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination and Swartz Center for Computational Neuroscience on research to quantify VR simulation of an overview effect.  At NEXUS Global, she brings consciousness research to next-generation philanthropists, impact investors, and social entrepreneurs. Claudia convenes the IONS Overview Effect and Collective Consciousness webinar series and is a contributing author to Our Moment of Choice (Simon & Schuster). She began collaborating with Mitchell while working at UC Berkeley and founding NextNow Collaboratory, described by the director of MIT's Center for Collective Intelligence as an example of "a new kind of collective intelligence”.
