Dr. Deana L. Weibel is a cultural anthropologist and Professor at Grand Valley State University whose research explores the human experience of space exploration. She has conducted fieldwork at NASA centers, the Vatican Observatory, and commercial spaceflight facilities, carrying out ethnographic research with astronauts, scientists, and engineers. She is the author of The Ultraview Effect and co-author of the forthcoming Voyager’s Golden Record: An Enduring Reflection. Her work examines how experiences of spaceflight and the cosmos shape human understandings of awe, meaning, and our place in the universe.
