Don Eyles created flight software that guided the Lunar Module during the lunar landing phase of the Apollo missions. After Apollo 14 he received the NASA Public Service Award for devising a workaround for a problem that threatened the success of that mission. He invented a software sequencing system that is currently operating on the International Space Station, and he is the author of “Sunburst and Luminary, an Apollo Memoir.”
